Birth Preparation - $300
If you're not sure that you want a doula at your birth, but you'd like to benefit from the prenatal and postpartum support of a doula - this is the perfect option for you! This package offers birth and baby preparation in the form of 2 prenatal meetings to assist you with birth planning, resources, understanding your options and preparing for your newborn which includes breastfeeding education. As your prenatal doula, I will come alongside you to support you emotionally during pregnancy; a womanly presence that you can relate to, with experience with pregnancy and birth to provide perspective as well as companionship. We will talk about nutrition, common pregnancy ailments, comfort measures for labor, providers and birth and more. After your baby is born, we will meet for up to 2 hours to talk about newborn care, learning your baby's cues and sleep habits. We will explore the benefits of babywearing and breastfeeding while trouble shooting any problems or concerns you may have. For the postpartum period, it is so important to "mother the mother". Postpartum support may include helping out with the basic to-do's, boosting your confidence in the parenting style of your choice and promoting healthy bonding with the new baby for both parents and siblings.
Postpartum doula services - $20/hour
Services include, but are not limited to:
*Infant care guidance and assistance - Routine tasks for an experienced parent can seem overwhelming and intimidating to a new mother or father. I can help you "learn the ropes" of baby care. I can show you how to hold, bathe, feed, soothe and massage your baby. My goal is to help you feel empowered and confident in caring for your baby yourself
*Breastfeeding support - As a trained breastfeeding peer counselor and experienced breastfeeding mother, I can offer guidance and assistance with getting off to a strong breastfeeding start.
*Light housework and meal-prep - I'd be happy to throw in a load of laundry, wash dishes and tidy up the baby's room. If you are feeling overwhelmed about getting dinner on the table, I can help by preparing a nutritious dinner for your family. All meals with be prepared in your home with your food. I can also offer this service before the baby comes, when you fin your to-do list getting longer and your due date getting closer. I can help you prepare freezer meals and help you think through the logistics of getting your house ready for baby.
*Sibling care - tasks may include playing and reading with toddlers and children, preparing their meals and snacks, and getting them ready for nap-time or bed. Parents must be in the house at all times.
*Birth recovery support - tasks may include playing with an older sibling so you can rest, drawing an herbal bath, and preparing healthy snacks so your body can recover. Some women also need to process their birth experiences and heal emotionally from any trauma or disappointment. I am happy to lend a listening ear as you go through your birth story.
**I am not a medical provider and will not perform any medical tasks at any time. If you experience a health concern, I will suggest you contact your health provider.
*Pet care assistance - tasks may include feeding, walking and playing with them
Planned Cesarean Section Doula - $400
Doula support can be quite valuable for women and families who are planning a cesarean section for the upcoming birth of their child(or children). I will help you establish a birth plan. I will give you information so that you can have your preferences included on your list. I can help you with any fears that you may have before the procedure and offer relaxation exercises and breathing techniques that you can use before, during and after the procedure. Studies have shown that when a woman is relaxed through a cesarean birth, recovery time can be shorter. A doula can help your partner with any fears that they may have. I can offer physical and emotional support while in recovery. I also will assist with breastfeeding. This services also includes a postpartum meeting.
